You can lock the bolt back with use of a stop dog that some earlier models had (for rappelling) prevents bolt from slam firing. You can hold the bolt open via a ratcheting top cover for safety and it works on all bolts with a little modification (original design). Also, you don't have to have military experience, and there is the option of using a trust to by pass the CLEO signature. Converting can entail different techniques from the original open bolt to closed bolts - your's showed full auto fire therefore I figured you probably went with the original open bolt on a full size Uzi. I have 6 Uzis and one of them is the first of 200 that ever entered the USA. back in 1978. I teach Fire team tactics primarily with the Uzi since the MP5 tends to cook off on sustained closed bolt operation which is why I love my open bolt Uzis. P.S lock back = stop dog for bolt. (part)

@Anchanthai ...Considering I purchased this UZI as a Semi Automatic, and converted it myself. I do not think "advice" from anyone is needed. Thanks. This UZI was ORIGINALLY Semiautomatic like I said, which means you CAN NOT LOCK THE BOLT, and then put in the mag (unlike most semiautomatic pistols) Because it is a safety mechanism. How many UZI's do you own?

Just a tip on Uzi's, it's a lot easier to pull the bolt assembly back first then insert the magazine rather than the opposite way - its a lot more suitable and quiet too if you're into clandestine work or noise suppression.
