The opening tune to this is just so brilliant and esoteric - haunting - mysterious - European - melancholy - desperate - sad and aching. I'm a fan of the classical piano works of Erik Satie and this reminds me of it, somehow. Check out Gnossienne No 1 or Gymnopedie and see if you can see what I mean. From the first moment I heard this in 1978 it has stayed indelibly imprinted on my mind. Pop genius.

Do you know which Co-op engine it was? To date in the US the only engines that Yamaha has really worked with Ford on are for the SHO Taurus. Working at a Mazda Dealearship for 5 years, and attending training classes, you are told the origins of an engine. And as far as I know, everything released to the north american market by Mazda, before Mazda became Fords Japanese ace-in-the-hole engine designer, was designed by Mazda. I have heard that the Toyota Celica GTS engine was by Yamaha.

And no, most engines are not Yamaha designs, and so not look like that. Yamaha engines (in Mazdas and Fords) are cheap and last only little, main difference is that the chain there looks like from a bicycle.

@ Everyone...... LOL The LFA is an absolute masterpiece... no denying that. The rep was telling me this car is simply a break through into the super car market. Oddly enough, with the 400k price tag, Lexus is still taking a net loss. They did not utilize any new technology or materials that have not been used in previous super-cars. So i am led to conclude, this car is not meant to advance the super-car world, rather, its suppose to advance solely the brand. They are touting carbon fiber..

The design is genious, just take the very last thing you say, the selenoid is grounded via the starter motor, at least half the selenoid. They solved 3 problems at once :-) 1. simple, only one contact switch. 2. Save power, it take lot of energy to move those things, but not much to hold it. 3. Sparks generated when a switch control hundreds of amps. So the selenoid has 2 coils , and the main one get short connected by the contacts, sending a inductive reverse spark killing pulse.
